The North Carolina Community Development Association was formed in 1979 to provide a unified voice for community development officials across the state.
The goal of the Association is to provide:
We encourage all community development professionals from across the state to join us as we collectively revitalize and develop safe, decent, and affordable neighborhoods in our local communities.
Since April of 2008, your Board of Directors has continued to stay focused on moving forward with each of the New Directions strategy and goals as identified at the 2008 Board Retreat, while managing the transition from a North Carolina League Affiliate to a Self-Supporting Organization.
Over the past year we have achieved many goals and managed the following challenges:
During these economically challenging times, the President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer continue to oversee the organization's finances and manage the organization's revenues and expenses. The 2007-08 annual audit has been completed with no financial concerns.
Under the leadership of Tara Fikes, the Transition Committee has been working to identify an organization management firm to support NCCDA with the services that have been provided by North Carolina League of Municipalities. These include:
As another element of the transition, the President and Vice President have visited NCLM offices to inventory the NCCDA files, supplies and equipment.
The Membership/Nominating Committee continues to develop a foundation to build the organization's membership.
As always, your Board continues to be excited and motivated to provide the membership with training, networking, and advocacy support.
Karen Kiehna
President, NCCDA
