About Us

The Organization

The North Carolina Community Development Association was formed in 1979 to provide a unified voice for community development officials across the state. An affiliate of the NC League of municipalities, the Association is governed by a Board of Directors composed of a President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer who are elected by the voting membership at the annual meeting (spring meeting) of the Association. Additional Board members and Chairs of the standing committees are appointed by the President.

Total membership of the Board is eleven with nine standing committees including: Nominating, Legislative, Education and Training, Meetings, Rules/By-laws, Coordinating/Liaison, Historian, Membership and Publications. Each committee consists of the chair and a minimum of two other members of the Association. Every effort is made to fill the positions available.

Two meetings of the Association are held annually. The spring conference, held each May, is considered the main annual conference event where the business meeting and award ceremony is held. In the fall, the Association holds its Education/Training Conference.
