ANSON COUNTY JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: PUBLIC UTILITIES DIRECTOR

Anson County, located 50 miles southeast of Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Public Utilities Director. Anson County operates regional water and wastewater facilities and host a regional landfill.

The successful candidate will demonstrate considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of water and wastewater treatment, distribution and collection systems, pumping stations, metering, and other utility system appurtenances. Considerable knowledge of the County budget, utility rate setting, purchasing , and personnel policies and practices is needed. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to establish, staff and maintain an effective Public Utilities Department. Long range planning and considerable attention to statutory compliance is a major function in this department. The ideal candidate will be a graduate of a four year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in environmental science, civil engineering, chemistry, public administration or related field and extensive experience supervising water and/or wastewater treatment or distribution and collection systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification as a P.E. is highly desirable.

Salary Range: Grade 79: Salary of $50,274 to $77,925 per year, depending upon qualifications. This is a top level County government management position requiring Anson County residency.
